23/01/2001 - DHCP testing
If you move between offices and use DHCP to get your network config, then you may find that your laptop keeps the settings from the previous office. This is because the information has a lease period. Until this times out the system will not ask for the information again.
To force the computer to renew the lease use winipcfg.exe in Windows 9x or the command line based ipconfig.exe in Windows NT/2000. Use the release command to release the lease and renew to renew it. Beware - winipcfg stores information for dial-up connections, so check the drop down list of adapters for the real network adapter.
